Srisailam in January
Andhra Pradesh, India
Go in January — peak tiger season, cool forest temperatures ideal for trekking, and low humidity make long safaris comfortable despite moderate altitude.
Peak crowds
January is one of Srisailam's busiest months. The score rates conditions — weather, access, value — not how many people you'll share them with. Jyotirlinga and Shakti Peetha pilgrimage peaks Oct–Mar; monsoon Jun–Aug is quietest despite forest setting.
Srisailam in January is the version every pilgrim-and-wildlife planner books first. Daytime 27-29C, nights 17-18C, humidity 55 percent, rainfall under 15mm — the post-monsoon dry stretch at its cleanest. The Bhramaramba Mallikarjuna Swamy Temple — the only place in India where a Jyotirlinga (Mallikarjuna, 1 of 12) and a Shakti Peetha (Bhramaramba, 1 of 18) are co-located at the same site — runs at full ritual tempo. The temple opens 4:30am for the Suprabhata Seva; Mahanyasapurvaka Rudrabhishekam at 6:30am-7:30am (₹1,000 ticket); standard darshan 6am-3:30pm and 6:30pm-10pm. The 850-ft descent (cable car ₹50 round trip, or 800-step climb) to the Pathala Ganga ghat at the Krishna river runs at full schedule; pre-dawn ritual bathers at year-cleanest comfort. Nagarjuna Sagar Srisailam Tiger Reserve (NSTR — India's largest tiger reserve at 3,568 sq km spanning AP and Telangana, open October to May, closed June-September during the heavy southwest monsoon) at full safari schedule from the Srisailam range gate. Sankranti cluster (Bhogi-Sankranti-Kanuma Jan 14-16) brings Andhra family pilgrim flow. APTDC Haritha Hotel ₹2,500-4,500; private temple-side guest houses ₹800-2,000.
