Fair
Sravasti in March
Uttar Pradesh, India
March brings warmth — 16-32°C. The archaeological park greens up. The Ananda Bodhi tree leafs out. The ruins in spring light, with green grass between ancient brick foundations, photograph beautifully. The international Buddhist community temples are accessible. This is the last comfortable outdoor month before UP heat arrives.
The March story
March is the last comfortable month for full Sravasti exploration. The Jetavana park in spring green with the Ananda Bodhi tree in fresh leaf is beautiful. The morning walk through the ruins — pausing at the Gandhakuti (Buddha's personal cell), the Kosambakuti (where the famous mango-tree miracle occurred), and the great assembly hall foundations — takes 2-3 unhurried hours. The Maheth section (ancient city) requires a separate visit: the massive defensive walls, the Sobhanath Temple (medieval, built over ancient Buddhist structures), and the Pakki Kuti stupa reward exploration. March afternoons warm enough to sit under the Ananda Bodhi tree and simply be — which is, after all, what 2,500 years of monks have done here. The road from Lucknow passes through UP heartland: flat, agricultural, honest. Hotels at ₹500-1,000 in Balrampur.
