GTDC-operated café on Saputara Lake's garden side, near the boating jetty. Convenient stop for visitors doing the lake-walk + boating + Sunset Point loop. Cafeteria-style ordering, no AC, lake-edge seating. Cleaner than the carts on Sunset Point road; pricier by ~30%.
Tip: Best as a mid-afternoon stop, not a destination meal. The samosa-chai pairing is the order most regulars get; avoid the dosa (the South Indian section is reheated batter). Lake-edge benches fill up between 3-6pm; arrive earlier for the view.
Signature: Hot pakora and corn during monsoon
Monsoon (July-September) is Saputara's peak season — Gujarat's only hill station gets 1,500-2,000mm of rain. The road to Sunset Point and around Lake Garden lights up with bhajiya/pakora carts catering to monsoon-festival visitors. Hot fried snacks + masala chai + lake-mist views is the Saputara monsoon experience that's been the same since the 1970s.
Tip: Active only July-September — outside monsoon, most carts are gone. Stalls run hottest 4pm-7pm to catch the Sunset Point crowd. Mirchi pakora (chilli fritter) is the local order; pyaaz (onion) is the safer one for kids. Carry cash; UPI works at maybe 1 in 5 carts.

Patang Residency is a 44-room Saputara Lake-shore hotel — The Pasand is the upper-floor restaurant with full lake-and-garden view, the Sun Café below is the casual sit-down. Multi-cuisine but the Indian section is the strongest. Won the Sunset-Point-side traveller crowd (1km from Sunset Point, 1km from Pushpak Ropeway). Tripadvisor mid-3 range.
Tip: Window seats face the lake — request specifically. Lunch is calmer; dinner buses-in tour groups. The veg sizzler is the menu's most ordered item. Avoid the continental section.
Signature: Unlimited Gujarati thali (lunch and dinner)
Gujarat Tourism Development Corporation's (GTDC) flagship Saputara property — the in-house restaurant serves unlimited Gujarati thali to resort guests and day-walk-ins. ₹160 thali; cleanest food-hygiene in Saputara per Tripadvisor reviews. Wins as the lunch stop for day-trippers from Surat/Vadodara who aren't staying overnight. Same thali every day; multi-day stayers describe it as 'monotonous' but the one-time hit is solid.
Tip: Lunch (12-3pm) is the right window — fresher than dinner. Walk-ins for thali only are permitted; no breakfast unless you're staying. Skip if you're here in monsoon (Jun-Sep); the resort drops to half-capacity and the kitchen runs leaner.

FESTIVALS · BY THE MONTH
One of Gujarat's most significant tribal festivals held in Ahwa, Dang District, in the Saputara Hills. Gatherings of diverse tribal communities including Bhils, Kunbis, Warlis, and Gamits in traditional attire. Spectacular tribal dances performed in concentric circles with traditional percussion and wind instruments (Kahalia, Tadpur). The festival's name was changed to 'Jamabandi Durbar' with the District Collector officiating.
Annual festival organized by the Gujarat Tourism Department to celebrate tribal culture and the natural beauty of the Saputara region in the Dang District. Features tribal food festival, tattoo workshop, art & craft stalls, tribal costume photoshoot, folk fusion concerts, Warli painting workshop, and performances by over 350 folk artists. First week themed 'Tribal Heritage Week' showcasing tribal arts, crafts, traditional cuisines, and exhibitions of tribal skills.
