Rishikesh in November
Uttarakhand, India
Go in November — peak yoga season, perfect rafting conditions, and cool daytime temps (10–24°C) mean fewer crowds and low humidity ideal for outdoor practice.
Peak crowds
November is one of Rishikesh's busiest months. The score rates conditions — weather, access, value — not how many people you'll share them with. Weekends bring Delhi day-trippers. International Yoga Festival (Mar) is packed. Monsoon shuts down rafting.
November Rishikesh is October with the volume turned down. Temperatures cool to 10-25°C — mornings need a light layer, afternoons are bright and warm. The Ganges continues dropping toward winter levels but still carries enough water for solid rafting — the rapids are smaller than October's but still Grade III on the 16km stretch. The tourist crowd thins noticeably after Diwali (usually early November). The yoga ashrams enter their serious-study season: fewer tourists doing drop-in classes, more committed students doing multi-week programs. The cafes stay open but tables are available without waiting.
The November story
November is the month for people who read the October description and thought "I want that but quieter." The rafting is still excellent — less dramatic than October's high-water runs, but the river is clearer, calmer between rapids, and the Himalayan foothills are visible in sharp detail throughout the run. The beach camps at Shivpuri are operational with half the October bookings — you might have a bonfire with 10 people instead of 40. Beatles Ashram on a November weekday: you, maybe 20 others, and the graffiti in golden afternoon light. Ram Jhula without elbowing through a crowd. Triveni Ghat aarti with space to sit and absorb rather than crane your neck. The Neelkanth Temple trek is comfortable — cool mornings, no heat stress, the forest is still green from monsoon memory. Yoga class sizes drop to 10-15, which means actual teacher attention on your form. Room rates drop meaningfully: ₹800-1,500. Bungee jumping operates with 15-minute waits instead of 90-minute queues. AIIMS is there. The trade-off is evening chill — by 6 PM it's 12°C and dropping, restaurants start closing by 9 PM, and the evening social scene is muted. If you're a morning person and an early sleeper, November is your month.
