Nagarjuna Sagar in July
Andhra Pradesh, India
Boat services to the island temple are shut down during monsoon rains
July in Nagarjuna Sagar is the wettest stretch on the inland Andhra-Telangana basin. Rainfall 150-200mm across 14-17 wet days, daytime 28-31C, humidity 80 percent. The Nagarjuna Sagar-Srisailam Tiger Reserve remains closed (June 1 - September 30) — NSTR's 3,568 sq km expanse covers the Nallamala hill country and rain-flood track conditions make safari operations unsafe through monsoon. Dam reservoir releases run through July as upper-catchment Krishna basin storms (Karnataka and Maharashtra) feed downstream. The dam visitor access works only when releases are within safety thresholds — verify with AP Engineer-in-Chief office or APTDC before planning. Nagarjunakonda Island museum boats run intermittently — when Krishna river volume runs high, ferry operations suspend on safety. Ethipothala Falls paradoxically at peak flow (the falls is monsoon-fed; June-October is the wet-season high-flow stretch with the 22m drop running spectacularly) but the access road and viewing platform rain-interrupted. Hotel rates at year-low: Haritha Hill Colony ₹1.2-1.8k. Skip for the standard dam-and-wildlife trip; wait for October.
