~Apr 2026The stay decisions worth flagging in Maredumilli.
Maredumilli's stay is strictly eco-tourism — managed by the Valamuru, Somireddypalem and Valmeekipeta tribal community Vana Samrakshana Samithi with Forest Department support. Two options: Jungle Star Nature Camp (stream on three sides, basic cottages) and Vanavihari (slightly more comfortable). Bookings via vanavihari.com — not on booking portals. Book 2+ weeks ahead.
Jungle Star Nature Camp is the community-run eco option; Vanavihari is the slightly more comfortable alternative within the same eco-tourism program. Both managed with AP Forest Department. No brand-hotel upgrade exists; this is tribal-community tourism or nothing.
Jungle Star Nature Camp
Cottages adjacent to the Valamuru river, stream flowing on three sides, surrounded by Eastern Ghats semi-evergreen forest. Run by the local tribal community with the Forest Department. Basic accommodation — bucket hot water, limited power, no wifi. You came for the forest, not the amenities.
Vanavihari Eco-Tourism
Vanavihari is the community tourism initiative's flagship — slightly more comfortable than Jungle Star, same forest-adjacent siting. Managed by the same tribal-community cooperative. Good fallback when Jungle Star is full.
