Kavaratti in June
Lakshadweep, India
Monsoon shuts ferry services and water activities for the month
June on Kavaratti is the chain at full lockdown. Kavaratti Beach Resort has been closed since around May 15 and stays shuttered until late September. SAMUDRAM cruise paused — both MV Kavaratti and MV Lakshadweep Sea are in for refit. The chain's scuba operation is shut. Inter-island ferries are dry-docked. The UT administrative offices technically function but on monsoon-light schedules; even the public Marine Aquarium and Marine Museum reduce hours through July-August. Air 25-28C, rainfall 350-400mm, sustained 35-knot winds. Lakshadweep Tourism doesn't issue tourist permits for June arrivals to any island. The 11,000-strong residential population of Kavaratti waits the season out — the supply boats from Kochi run weekly at best. The next viable arrival window is the resort's September re-opening, typically September 25-30, contingent on the SW monsoon retreating on schedule.
