Kavaratti in July
Lakshadweep, India
July on Kavaratti is monsoon at its most stubborn. Rainfall averages 380-450mm across 26-28 wet days. Kavaratti Beach Resort remains closed; SAMUDRAM cruise paused; the chain's scuba operation is offline. Lakshadweep Tourism issues no tourist permits for July arrivals. Bakri Eid (Eid-ul-Adha, variable Hijri date, often falls in July or August) brings an additional 2-3 day closure of the Ujra Jamia Mosque, Marine Aquarium, Marine Museum, and UT admin offices — for the resident population only, since no tourists are on the island. Air 25-28C, humidity above 90 percent, BSNL tower goes intermittent on storm days. The 4.2km island reverts almost entirely to its resident community. The next viable arrival window is the third week of September, contingent on the SW monsoon retreating on schedule. The cleanest planning move from July is to lock October-November dates.
