The September story

September is the month Jaipur starts becoming itself again. The mornings are increasingly clear and warm without being punishing. By mid-month, you can do full fort circuits without rain interruptions on most days. Amber Fort and Nahargarh are still wearing their monsoon green, which fades fast once the rain stops — so early-to-mid September captures the last of the lush look with better weather for exploring it. Ganesh Chaturthi brings neighbourhood pandals (temporary shrines), street processions, and modak sweets. The Moti Dungri Ganesh Temple — Jaipur's most important Ganesh shrine — gets massive crowds during the festival. The bazaars resume full hours and the stallholders are happy to see customers after the monsoon lull. Heritage hotels start their winter prep: rates begin climbing from 4,000-8,000 toward peak season. This is a smart booking window — you get recovering weather, cultural events, and pre-peak pricing. The Jaipur-Delhi road dries out. One caution: the last monsoon bursts in early September can be heavy and sudden. Keep a rain jacket handy through the 15th.
