Daman in January
Daman & Diu, India
Go in January—Daman's peak season delivers reliably warm, dry beach weather with negligible rain and comfortable 28–30°C daytime temperatures.
Peak crowds
January is one of Daman's busiest months. The score rates conditions — weather, access, value — not how many people you'll share them with. Peak Nov–Feb when coastal weather is coolest; Apr–Jun is heat-driven quiet, monsoon Jul–Sep heavily avoided.
Daman in January is the Mumbai-weekenders' rotation slot. Daytime 18-28C, nights drop to 15-16C, the Arabian Sea sits at 24C and Devka Beach low-tide windows (check the Vapi tide table) open 6-9am and 4-7pm for safe wading; the rocky outcrops and undertow make full swims a coastguard concern. The Moti Daman ferry — ₹10 across Damanganga river — runs 7am-7pm and connects the Cathedral of Bom Jesus (1559, golden wood altar, open 7am-7:30pm with mass at 6:30am Sunday) to Nani Daman's St Jerome Fort. Daman's alcohol-licensed status is the worst-kept secret on this coast: bars on Devka Beach Road and the Mirasol-Diu Resort string keep weekend Gujarat traffic flowing. Mumbai to Daman is 175km — 2.5-3 hours on a Tuesday, 5-7 hours Friday 4pm onwards on NH48 via Vapi. ATMs concentrate around Nani Daman bus stand; Moti Daman has one working machine (Bank of Baroda) that runs out by Sunday afternoon.
