Mahua Kothi, A Taj Safari

Mahua Kothi sits in the Vindhya Range overlooking Bandhavgarh National Park, a 45-acre private forest concession. The 12 kutiyas (traditional forest cottages) are built with locally sourced materials—mud walls, cow dung, thatched roofs—each with a private courtyard and seating veranda. The design is intentional: low ecological footprint, immersion into the vernacular landscape. The centralized 'kothi' (homestead) hosts an interactive kitchen where you can watch preparations; pre-dinner drinks are served here. Twice-daily safaris with trained naturalists (trained by &Beyond, an external conservation partner). Bandhavgarh is denser forest than Kanha, which affects tiger sightings differently—the park is smaller, the prey base denser, the visibility more varied.
