Bandhavgarh Fort (10th c. Baghel-era hilltop).
The fort sits inside the Tala safari zone at 811m, but most tiger-safari tourists skip it for a second tiger drive. Access is on foot only (no jeeps allowed up), guide compulsory, and the trail closes when tigers den-up near it. Almost no foreign safari guests know it exists.WHY NOBODY KNOWS
A 10th-century hilltop fort with Vishnu reincarnation temples carved into the rock (varaha, narasimha, matsya), water reservoirs cut into stone, and panoramic views of Tala meadows where the white tiger Mohan was caught in 1951. The "Lord Ram gifted it to brother Lakshman" Bandhav-garh (brother's fort) legend is the etymological origin. Baghel dynasty held it 13th-17th c. before shifting capital to Rewa. Total plateau is 4 sq km.
