गर्म पानी के कुंड में चावल पकाने वाला गुरुद्वारा — पार्वती नदी किनारे तीर्थ।
Why Special

The stay decisions worth flagging in Manikaran.
No luxury chain affiliates (Taj, Oberoi, Four Seasons, IHCL Seleqtion, Radisson) operate in Manikaran. The market is dominated by homestays, budget guesthouses, and mid-range hotels. Only 5-6 properties carry 2+ independent sources across Tripadvisor, Booking.com, Agoda, MakeMyTrip, and Goibibo. Most locally-run properties lack official websites or appear on single-domain OTA listings only. For comprehensive current inventory, ground research or local referrals remain more reliable than OTA searches alone.
The value pick here is Manikaran View at ₹1,800-3,000/night. The experience pick is The Big Rock Cafe And Stays at ₹2,500-4,500/night. At most, you're paying ₹1,500/night more for the Glass House room and an on-site cafe at Big Rock — but with 30% of reviews rating it average or poor, that delta buys uncertain returns. Manikaran View's Booking.com location score of 9.5/10 and 0.3 km proximity to the Gurudwara and hot springs is a concrete advantage Big Rock's 2.6 km distance cannot match. If you're travelling as a family and proximity to the hot springs matters, the extra ₹1,500 does not make sense here.
The Big Rock Cafe And Stays
We pick this as the experience slot by default — it's the only property in the dossier that offers a distinct room type (the Glass House cottage) and an on-site cafe with valley views, which puts it a step above the guesthouses. That said, we'd go in with calibrated expectations: 30% of MakeMyTrip reviewers rate it average or poor, editorial coverage is thin, and the 2.6 km distance from the Gurudwara means you're not walking to the hot springs. Book the Glass House room specifically; the standa
Manikaran View
We recommend this for families specifically. At ₹1,800-3,000/night, you get a Booking.com score of 8.6/10 across 72 reviews, a location score of 9.5/10, fresh 2025 renovations, and a 0.3 km walk to both the Gurudwara and the hot springs. That proximity is the single most useful attribute in Manikaran — early morning access to the kund before crowds arrive. Note the family-only policy is a hard constraint: solo travellers and couples will not be accommodated.
No location pick here that's worth the flag. See alternatives below.
Being Himalayan Chojh
We flag this rather than fully recommend it — the data is too thin for a confident pick, but it's the only village homestay in the dossier with editorial mentions beyond OTA listings. Chojh village is outside the main Manikaran bazaar circuit, which means quieter nights and a different pace. If you're the type to sort accommodation by calling ahead rather than booking on an app, this is worth a direct inquiry on Booking.com. If you need confirmed availability before arriving, skip it.

सांस्कृतिक संदर्भ
Manikaran is a sacred site for both Hindus and Sikhs, famous for its natural hot springs where water boils at near 100°C. Legend says Lord Shiva's earring (manikaran means ear jewel) fell here and the serpent god Shesha retrieved it with a blast of boiling water. The Manikaran Sahib Gurudwara uses the hot spring water to cook langar (free community meal) — rice is literally cooked in cloth bags dipped in the boiling spring.
क्या पहनें
Head covering required at the Gurudwara (scarves provided at entrance). Cover arms and legs. Remove shoes. Both Gurudwara and Hindu temples require conservative dress.
खाद्य सुरक्षा
Free langar at the Gurudwara is safe and serves thousands daily. A few restaurants nearby serve basic vegetarian food. Be careful with hot spring water areas — temperatures are dangerously high. Bottled water for drinking.
सामान्य धोखाधड़ी से सावधान
- Shops near the Gurudwara selling overpriced religious items and fake healing stones
- Self-appointed guides at the hot springs charging for showing you freely accessible areas
- Taxi drivers from Kasol (5 km) overcharging for the short trip — walk or take a local bus
कार्ड और नकद
Very limited. Cash preferred everywhere. One ATM near the main road but unreliable. Carry cash from Bhuntar or Kullu.
