Beypore Lighthouse.
Day-trippers come to Beypore for the Uru dhow shipyard and the beach pier — almost no one walks the extra 1.5km to the 1981 lighthouse despite it being the highest viewpoint over the dhow yards and the Chaliyar river mouth. Kerala Maritime Board admits visitors but doesn't advertise.WHY NOBODY KNOWS
24m circular masonry tower, commissioned 1981, range 22 nautical miles. Climb 80 steps to the gallery — the panorama covers the entire Uru shipyard (5-7 dhows under construction at any time, each taking 1-3 years), the 700m old colonial pier, the Chaliyar river bar, and on a clear evening the Calicut town skyline 10km north. Entry ₹15, open 3-5pm only (operational lighthouse).
