Stok Kangri Trek
Stok Kangri Trek is a hard 5-day, 30 km trek, topping out at 6,153 m. The route takes in Summit a 6000m peak without mountaineering certification; Panoramic views of Karakoram, Zanskar, and Ladakh ranges; Glacier travel and steep snow climbing experience; Base camp in stunning Stok valley below the peak. Best months: July–September. Watch points: Extreme altitude — AMS, HACE, HAPE are real risks. Acclimatize 3-4 days in Leh first; summit success rate is only 40-50% — weather and fitness dependent; temperatures drop to -20C on summit night. Fitness level: extreme, permits required, not recommended for children under 18. Nearest hospital: SNM Hospital Leh — 15km from Stok village, 30 minutes. Altitude rescue by Indian Army/ITBP on request. Network coverage: Jio/Airtel in Leh and Stok village. No network above Stok village. Satellite phone essential for expedition.

Cost Estimate
Solo budget trek NOT recommended — this needs professional support. Operators: Rs 45000-60000/person including Leh stay, all camping, high-altitude guide, cook, porters, safety equipment, emergency oxygen. International operators charge $800-1200.
