Milam Glacier Trek is a hard 10-day, 120 km trek, topping out at 3,450 m. The route takes in One of India largest glaciers; Ancient trade route to Tibet; Johar Valley villages. Best months: May–June and September–October. Watch points: 120km total distance; inner Line Permit; very remote. Fitness level: very high, permits required, not recommended for children under 16. Nearest hospital: PHC Munsiyari at start/end. Zero medical facilities between Lilam and Milam. Serious cases: District Hospital Pithoragarh 90km. Helicopter evacuation difficult in narrow valley. Network coverage: BSNL at Munsiyari (weak). No signal from Lilam to Milam (8 days). This is one of India's most remote treks. Satellite phone essential.
