Great Lakes of Kashmir is a hard 7-day, 70 km trek, topping out at 4,100 m. The route takes in Seven different alpine lakes; Color changes between lakes; Kashmir wildflower meadows. Best months: July–September. Watch points: Altitude 4100m max; very remote; river crossings. Fitness level: high, not recommended for children under 14. Nearest hospital: PHC Sonamarg (entry). PHC Naranag area (exit). Serious cases: SKIMS Srinagar 80km. Helicopter evacuation possible from open meadows. Network coverage: Jio/Airtel at Sonamarg. Zero signal from Nichnai to Naranag (6 days). Occasional BSNL blip at high passes. Satellite phone recommended.
