Gopalpur Beach Festival

Gopalpur-on-Sea

Four-day coastal celebration blending tradition, culture, and modernity at this historic beach in Ganjam district. Features the first-ever Sea Aarti ceremony performed by Varanasi saints, torch processions from local temples, Star Nights with Bollywood and Odissi performances, traditional dances (Sambalpuri, Kuchipudi, Ghumura), and Pallishree Mela with 250+ handicraft and food stalls.

Dhauli Kalinga Mahotsav

Classical, folk, and martial dance festival held at the Peace Pagoda (Shanti Stupa) on Dhauli Hill. Features performances from classical dance forms and the distinctive Odissi and martial traditions, organized jointly by Odisha Culture & Tourism and Odisha Dance Academy.

Dhauli

Major Buddhist pilgrimage at Dhauli Shanti Stupa marking the birth, enlightenment, and death of Gautama Buddha. Buddhists from across India and the world gather to pay respects at this sacred location.

Nrusingha Chaturdasi (Baisakh Mela)

Nrusinghanath & Harishankar

Annual fair and pilgrimage event at Nrusinghanath Temple on the Gandhamardan hills, celebrating the divine incarnation of Lord Nrusimhanath. Attracts thousands of pilgrims from across Odisha and neighboring states. Pilgrims trek the 16 km connection between the twin temples (Nrusinghanath in Bargarh and Harishankar in Balangir).

Snana Yatra

Ritual bathing ceremony of Jagannath deities. After this, deities go into 15-day seclusion (Anasara) before Rath Yatra — believed to fall ill from the bath.

Grand chariot procession celebrating the marriage of Shiva and Parvati. Sambalpur signature festival with elaborate decorations.

Bahuda Yatra

Puri

Return journey of the chariots from Gundicha Temple back to Jagannath Temple. Equally spectacular procession.

Rath Yatra

Puri

World's largest chariot festival. Three 45-foot wooden chariots carrying Jagannath, Balabhadra, and Subhadra pulled by 1M+ devotees from Jagannath Temple to Gundicha Temple.

Durga Puja (Cuttack Silver Edition)

Cuttack

Cuttack Durga Puja famous for silver filigree pandal decorations — unique to this city. Thousands of Tarakasi artisans create pandals with silver.

Bali Jatra

Cuttack

Asia's largest open-air trade fair. Celebrates ancient maritime links between Odisha and Southeast Asia (Bali, Java, Sumatra). Boat races, cultural programs, mega fair.

Konark Dance Festival

Konark

5-day classical dance festival held against the backdrop of the Sun Temple. Leading Odissi and other classical dancers perform at the open-air auditorium.
