July is peak monsoon. Chamba receives 300-400mm, the Ravi roars, and the surrounding hills disappear into cloud. The Minjar fair (late July, sometimes early August) begins — Chamba's biggest celebration, a week-long harvest festival with roots older than most Indian states.
