Surat in November
Gujarat, India
Go — peak Surti food season, full programme, ideal weather.
Peak crowds
November is one of Surat's busiest months. The score rates conditions — weather, access, value — not how many people you'll share them with. Peak Oct–Feb for cooler weather; monsoon (Jun–Jul) and summer heat (May) are quietest.
November is Surat at year-best for the food traveller — 19-32°C, dry post-monsoon air, the post-Diwali calm settling the city back into its working rhythm, and the Surti food trail (locho, ghari, undhiyu) at peak comfort. Surat Castle and the Dutch Garden walk in soft post-monsoon light.
The November story
Diwali falls Sun Nov 8 2026 — pre-Diwali week (Nov 1-7) sees Mandvi old-city sweet shops queue up and Chowk Bazaar Diwali shopping. Post-Diwali (Nov 9-30) is the food traveller's dream. Plan three days. Day 1 Surti food trail — Jani Farsan locho (Parle Point, Athwa) for breakfast, Chowk Bazaar ghari stalls for afternoon, Athwa Lines undhiyu evening. Day 2 Surat Castle (1546, restored Sardar Patel Museum) + Dutch Garden colonial cemetery + Sasumaa thali at Vesu for lunch + Dumas Beach 21km for sunset. Day 3 Diamond-cutting workshop tour (weekday only) + day-trip to Saputara hill station (160km) OR Statue of Unity (200km east). Hotel rates standard mid-range. Surat Marriott (#4/86 city, 4/5 Tripadvisor) and Le Meridien Surat at booking-window best. The Surti undhiyu season kicks off properly in November.
