Pinjore Gardens in July
Haryana, India
Muddy paths and high humidity make walking the gardens uncomfortable during peak monsoon season
The monsoon transforms Pinjore into something the Mughals would recognise: water everywhere. Rain fills the cascade channels authentically, the terraces turn emerald green, and the stone pavilions become shelters where you watch curtains of rain sweep across the Shivaliks. It's lush but muddy — the paths between terraces turn slippery.
The July story
An atmospheric monsoon visit if you don't mind wet feet. The rain-filled channels are the closest you'll get to how the garden was meant to function — but expect mud and mosquitoes.
