Why Special
Orchha was the capital of the Bundela Rajput kingdom founded in 1501. The Jehangir Mahal palace was built in a single night (legend says) to host the Mughal emperor. Ram Raja Temple is the only temple in India where Lord Ram is worshipped as a king with guards presenting arms. The chatris (cenotaphs) along the Betwa river at sunset are breathtaking. Orchha gets a fraction of Khajuraho's tourists despite being equally stunning.
