Neil Island (Shaheed Dweep) in June
Andaman & Nicobar Islands, India
Monsoon shuts down most water activities and ferry schedules become unpredictable
June is Neil closed. The southwest monsoon delivers 400-450mm of rain across the month, sea state is too rough for the high-speed ferries on most days, and the inter-island services from Havelock cancel routinely. Snorkeling visibility collapses to 5m. The Natural Bridge - the literal headline of the island - is inaccessible most low tides because the swells make the rocky approach dangerous. Beaches at Lakshmanpur and Sitapur have safety advisories. The handful of homestays that stay open run on staff-leave timetables; restaurants reduce menus to whatever the local fishing boats can land, which in storm weather is very little.
