Karnataka, India
Go in February—crisp mornings, sharp visibility for sunrise and paragliding, and cool temps ideal for walking the fort plateau without heat fatigue.
Peak crowds
February is one of Nandi Hills's busiest months. The score rates conditions — weather, access, value — not how many people you'll share them with. AVOID weekends — traffic jam from 5am. Tuesday-Thursday ideal.
Nandi Hills in February is the technical sweet spot. Rainfall under 5mm, daytime 20-26C, nights 12-14C, humidity at year-low 50 percent. Sunrise visibility at year-best — the Deccan plateau holds clear-air conditions across the 100km viewline. Gates 6am, sunrise 6.30am — the early-bird BBMP traffic from Bengaluru hits NH-44 by 4.30am. Yoga Nandeeshwara Temple (Chola 9th-century), Tipu's Drop, Brahmashram cave, Amrita Sarovar (summit lake) hold free access; ₹15 hilltop entry and ₹50-100 parking. Bhoga Nandeeshwara Temple at the base (Ganga Dynasty 9th century) holds clean morning access. Paragliding (BPC Karnataka, ₹3500-5000 per 15-min tandem flight) at peak weekend frequency through the month — Saturday and Sunday morning launches happen 8-10am, weather-dependent. Cycling clubs (Bengaluru Riders, Bangalore Bicycle Club, Spinhog) run weekend uphill rides to the summit — 1478m elevation gain across the 60km route from Bengaluru, the standard testing route for the city's road cyclists. Tata Coffee plantation cafe at the base (Coffee Day Junction) and Café Coffee Day at Devanahalli (closer airport spillover) hold full hours.
