Mollem (Bhagwan Mahavir Sanctuary) in August
Goa, India
Peak monsoon rains make trails muddy and wildlife viewing nearly impossible
August in Mollem holds the July monsoon pattern with marginally fewer extreme-rain days. Rainfall 1000-1200mm across 22-25 wet days. Sanctuary trails closed under Forest Department rule. Forest roads on Mollem-Tambdi Surla, Mollem-Sanguem, and Mollem-Chorla all wash out periodically. Wildlife at year-peak abundance but unreachable. Tambdi Surla 12th C temple sees its second-largest annual pilgrim wave during Ganesh Chaturthi (variable date August-September) — Goan Hindu families visit in the 5-11 day festival window despite weather; access via the 12km forest road becomes road-condition-dependent. Wildernest Resort at Chorla Ghat continues — canopy treehouses are at their year-cinematic best in monsoon, rates ₹5,000-6,500. Mollem Nature Camp, Sahakari Spice Farm Homestay both closed. Dudhsagar Falls jeep operations also closed under Forest Department rule (June 1 - September 30). Wait for October.
