Most boat tours run Moirang or Sendra and back. Thanga is a permanent fishing settlement on the lake's south-west, reached by causeway then short paddle, so it sits off the standard photo-stop circuit.WHY NOBODY KNOWS
The largest of Loktak's inhabited islands and the working hub of the lake's fishing economy: rows of bamboo-stilt houses, drying-net frames, and the daily fish market that supplies Bishnupur. Boats from Thanga ghat reach the inner phumdis where Sendra tour boats can't go in low water.
