Why Special
Kolad is Mumbai and Pune's closest white water rafting destination. The Kundalika River offers Grade II-III rapids during monsoon release season (July-February, when the dam releases water). The 10km rafting stretch runs through a scenic gorge. Camping on the riverbank is the main overnight experience. The drive from Mumbai via the Tamhini Ghat is one of Maharashtra's most scenic.

Kolad is a river-rafting village on the Kundalika river β 120 km from Mumbai, 130 km from Pune. Stay scene is purpose-built rafting camps (cottage + white-water combo), almost all bundling stay with the Class II-III rapids run. Season is Jun-Oct when the Bhira hydroelectric plant releases water. Dry season (Nov-May) = no rafting, no real reason to stay. Alternate: Bekare or Kolad for adventure camps with rope courses and zip lines year-round.
Kolad's stay scene is almost exclusively river-rafting camps β Kolad River Resort, Adrenaline River Rafting Camp. No 4-star hotels. The choice is which camp has your rafting package; all offer similar cottage accommodation. Book directly with rafting operators for combined stay-and-raft deals.
