Tayul Gompa.
Kardang and Shashur soak up the Keylong day-tour bookings. Tayul sits higher up the same Bhaga slope at about 3600 m, reached by a small road branching off the main valley axis, and most drivers do not include it unless asked.WHY NOBODY KNOWS
A 17th-century Drukpa Kagyu hermitage founded by Zanskari yogi Serzang Rinchen, who chose the spot during a Drilbu Ri kora and named it Tayul - 'chosen place'. The main hall has a 4 m statue of Padmasambhava, and the courtyard catches the afternoon light off the Bhaga River. Smaller and quieter than Kardang, with a single resident lama line and almost no foot traffic.
