Diwali inside Jaisalmer Fort is an experience that belongs on bucket lists. Three thousand residents light oil lamps along the ramparts, firecrackers echo off 850-year-old walls, and the fort glows against the desert dark. Even after Diwali, November delivers: desert camp operators are at full capacity with the best cultural programs — Manganiar musicians performing by firelight, Kalbeliya dancers spinning in the sand. The Sam Dunes sunset-to-sunrise cycle becomes the definitive Rajasthan experience. Kuldhara abandoned village is best visited now, when the mid-morning light creates long shadows through empty doorways. Inside the fort, the rooftop restaurants compete fiercely and the food quality reflects it. November is when Jaisalmer earns its reputation. The trade-off: prices are at peak, and the popular dune camps book out 2-3 weeks ahead. Book early or accept the second-tier camps.
