Dakor in June
Gujarat, India
Skip — June Dakor is the transition limbo. Wait for October Sharad Purnima.
June in Dakor is pre-monsoon transition. Heat lingers at 28-40C, southwest monsoon arrives in the second half, Krishna pilgrim flow at annual lows. The transition limbo before July monsoon brings rain to the temple courtyards.
The June story
June is Dakor's pre-monsoon transition. The first half continues May's heat with daytime 28-40C, the second half brings the southwest monsoon to the Kheda district with concentrated rain bursts. The Ranchhodraiji Temple stays accessible all day with the temple interior shielded — but the open temple courtyards and Gomti Talav bath rituals become uncomfortable in heat and rain alike. Bavajipura sweet shops continue at low rhythm. Hotels at annual-low rates with most pilgrims-deferred-to-fall bookings. The dust storms ('lu') of June can interrupt the temple courtyard rhythm. Late-June arrival of the monsoon delivers welcome temperature relief and the rare visual of monsoon rains over the Ranchhodraiji Temple — a specialist photography possibility — but the standard pilgrimage rhythm is broken. The Shravan month begins late-June/early-July and brings a Shiva-devotee wave to the wider region (Galteshwar Mahadev 35 km away benefits) but Dakor itself sees minimal Shravan activity. The honest June rule: skip standard pilgrimage; for monsoon-photography specialists, July works better.
