Belum Caves in February
Andhra Pradesh, India
Go in February — peak weather makes the 1.5-hour cave walk comfortable above and below ground with minimal slippery conditions.
Peak crowds
February is one of Belum Caves's busiest months. The score rates conditions — weather, access, value — not how many people you'll share them with. Cave system accessible year-round with no major closures; peak crowds Nov–Mar coincide with broader regional travel season.
February in Belum Caves is the technical peak surface month. Rainfall under 10mm, daytime 30-31C, nights 18-19C, humidity 45 percent. The cave underground temperature holds at its consistent 30-35C with 80-90 percent humidity — the cave interior conditions are identical to January, December, and any other month, but the surface approach is at its driest most-comfortable window. The 3.2km guided circuit (Belum Caves does not allow unaccompanied exploration; ASI-trained guides run the full 1.5-hour circuit from the entrance to the Pataalaganga and back) at year-cleanest weekday crowd. The 1000-Hooded Snake formation, Saptasvarala Guha musical pillars, and the Pataalaganga underground stream all at clean conditions. The 165m Buddha statue at the entrance and the AP Tourism interpretation centre (small museum showing the geological formation timeline and the Cambodian-Indian mapping history) at full hours. Surface entry fee ₹65 (adult), ₹45 (children), camera ₹100; guide tip ₹100-200. Tadipatri (35km, nearest town with rail access — Tadipatri station on the Guntakal-Renigunta line) hotels ₹1,000-2,200. Anantapur (60km, the larger district HQ) hotels ₹1,200-3,000.
