# Best Time to Visit Arunachal Pradesh

India's wildest frontier state. Inner Line Permits required for all visitors. Roads are an adventure in themselves. Timing is everything.

The Verdict

October-November: 5/5 — Post-monsoon clarity. Tawang Pass open. Festival season (Torgya at Tawang monastery). Roads at their best. 10-20°C.

March-April: 5/5 — Spring bloom. Sela Pass usually clear. Ziro Valley preparing for rice planting. Losar festival.

December-February: 3/5 — Cold. Snow closes Sela Pass intermittently (Tawang access cut). But Ziro, Pasighat, Mechuka accessible. Clear mountain views.

May-June: 2/5 — Pre-monsoon heat at lower altitudes. Increasing cloud cover. Last window before rains.

July-September: 1/5 — Monsoon devastation. Landslides routine. Sela Pass closed weeks at a time. Do not plan travel.

Key Routes

Tawang: October-November, March-April only (Sela Pass dependent). Ziro Valley: October-March. Mechuka: October-April. Namdapha: November-March.
