किन बातों का ध्यान रखें
- Barefoot tradition
Pilgrims customarily walk the full parikrama barefoot as a mark of devotion. The path is paved stone but can be uneven; care is needed, and barefoot walking compounds the summer-heat risk below.
- Extreme summer heat (April-June)
Summer temperatures reach roughly 45-47 degC in April-June; April and May are the hottest months and travellers generally avoid Chitrakoot then. Barefoot parikrama in this heat is a dehydration / heat-exhaustion risk, especially for the elderly and children.
- Monsoon flooding (July-September)
Monsoon runs July-September with medium-to-heavy rain; the Mandakini River runs high and boating/ghats become risky, with flooding, mosquitoes and waterlogging reported. Plan around heavy-rain spells.
- Path crosses the UP-MP border
The roughly 5 km circuit is shared by Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh; no permit is required, but the boundary crossing is worth noting for navigation.
