Nilnag Glacial Lake (Yusmarg upper bowl).
Day-trippers stop at the main meadow and the pony ride to the lower viewpoint; the 4-6km hike up to Nilnag through dense conifer cover gets less than 10% of foot traffic.WHY NOBODY KNOWS
Walk or pony-ride up through pine-deodar tunnels to Nilnag (Blue Lake) at ~3000m — a small glacial bowl whose blue colour gave it its name. Round-trip is 3-4 hours on foot, 2.5 hours by pony (negotiable at the Yusmarg pony stand, ₹800-1200 per pony). Best visited April-October — locked under snow in winter. Trail is graded easy-to-moderate, suitable for fit children over 10.
