Ashokan Pillar at Kolhua.
The Vishwa Shanti Stupa and Coronation Tank are the Vaishali photo-stops; the Ashokan Pillar at Kolhua is 5 km out along an unmetalled approach, so day-trippers from Patna often skip it.WHY NOBODY KNOWS
One of the best-preserved Ashokan pillars — a single piece of polished red sandstone, 18.3 m high, with a lion capital. It marks the spot where Buddha is said to have delivered his last sermon before walking on to Kushinagar for parinirvana. There's a brick stupa beside it. ASI-protected, free entry.
