Srikalahasti is one of the few temples in India where Rahu-Ketu Sarpa Dosha pooja is performed daily by 50+ priest desks; pilgrims book a 30-min ritual (₹750) followed by darshan. Most known via Telugu astrological tradition; outside-state pilgrims often unaware. Pooja slots 6am-12.30pm and 4-6pm; book online via temple site at dawn for same-day slot.
Sacred subterranean tank on the temple's south wall, fed by a perennial spring inside the rock. Tradition holds it equals Varanasi's Manikarnika in punya value. Free access; pilgrims bathe before darshan. Steps narrow and steep; not wheelchair-accessible. Open 6am-8pm.
Small hilltop shrine commemorating Kannappa Nayanar, the 7th c. Tamil tribal-hunter Shaiva saint whose self-sacrifice story (offering his own eyes to the Shivalinga) is central to Srikalahasti temple lore. Tip: Walk about 800m from the temple's east gopuram, opposite the SBI ADB Bank in Bahadur Pet. The chicken biryani is the must-order and tends to run out by 9pm.

The Sri Kalahasteeswara Devasthanam's free-meal hall, served at Annapurna Bhavan inside the temple complex. Annadanam runs every single day — even during eclipses when the temple sanctum itself closes; on regular days 5,000-8,000 devotees are fed, crossing 50,000 on Maha Shivaratri and during Karthika Masam. Funded by donor endowments, served sit-down on banana leaf.
Tip: Walk-in, no token, no cost — meals at lunch and dinner only, the hall is closed between services. After the rahu-ketu pariharam pujas the queue spikes; arrive at the start of a service batch for a faster seat.
