Most Umngot visitors stop at Dawki for the boat photo and never make it 8 km upriver to Shnongpdeng where the actual adventure is. Operators are local Khasi-owned (Pioneer, Marvel's) and don't advertise on national OTAs.WHY NOBODY KNOWS
Shnongpdeng's riverbank rises in two natural cliff platforms — 15 ft (beginner) and 25 ft (advanced) — straight into the clearest stretch of the Umngot, where dry-season visibility runs 7-10 metres. Pioneer Adventure and local operators run the jumps with safety briefings; the jump line is busiest 10 AM-3 PM in dry months (October-April). The water below is glacial-cold even in March and the rock face has the kind of natural footholds that make exits painless.
