Serenity Beach

Unlike Promenade, this is a real beach — sandy, surfable. Kallialay Surf School (1-on-1 lessons, board rentals) operates here; small but well-run. Cafes on the road above. Quieter than Chennai beaches, busier than you'd hope on weekends.

Paradise Beach

Not walkable — the boat from Chunnambar Boathouse is the only access (fee includes return). Narrow strip of golden sand between backwater and sea. No shops, no restaurants — bring water and snacks. Busy Dec-Feb, quieter weekdays.

Founded by Mirra Alfassa (the Mother) in 1968 as an experiment in human unity. The Matrimandir (inner chamber, golden orb) is the spiritual center — entry requires a prior visit to the visitor center and booking. Around 3,000 residents from 50+ countries. Cafes, bakeries, pottery studios, and organic farms are open to visitors.

Founded 1926. The samadhi (resting place) of Sri Aurobindo and the Mother sits in the inner courtyard, covered in flowers. Quiet, short visit — silent meditation only. Separate bookstore stocks the complete works in 10+ languages.

Bharathi Park
4MWhite Town's central park — the French Quarter's open-air living room
Named after Tamil poet Subramania Bharathi. Surrounded by the French Consulate, Puducherry Museum, and Raj Nivas (governor's residence). Morning yoga, evening couples, midday pensioners. The Aayi Mandapam monument in the center is a Pondy icon.
