Baradari Gardens.
Visitors who do Qila Mubarak and Sheesh Mahal usually call it a day. Baradari sits a short ride away through Sheranwala Gate and reads, from the road, as just another municipal park - missing that it's the Maharaja Rajinder Singh's 12-gated 1876 estate.WHY NOBODY KNOWS
Inside the gates is the Rajindra Kothi - now Punjab's first heritage hotel, and walk-in friendly for tea or a tour of the public rooms - plus a botanical collection of rare species the Maharaja imported as personal hobby. The marble statue of Rajinder Singh sits on the central axis. Cleanest morning hour for photographs is 7-9am before the dog-walkers and joggers thicken.
