Rainbow Falls (Past the Double Decker).
It's a second trek on top of an already-demanding day, and you have to start from Nongriat itself rather than from Tyrna — which means staying overnight. Day-trippers who descend from Cherrapunji can almost never make it.WHY NOBODY KNOWS
A 3-4 km onward trek past the double-decker bridge brings you to a single high-pressure plunge fall where the late-morning sun refracts off the spray to throw a permanent rainbow across the gorge. The trail is harder than the descent from Tyrna — bamboo ladders, root-step sections, one short rope-aid — and most homestay guests skip it. The pool at the base is glacial-cold and swimmable November-February. Better to start by 8 AM and clear the falls before noon; clouds close in fast.
