Notified in 1976 across roughly 63 sq km of Palamau forest, this is the only wolf-specific sanctuary in the country. Wolf sightings are rare and seasonal; what you do see reliably are the dens, prey-base sambar/chital, and the kind of dry deciduous quiet you cannot get on the standard hill-station loop.
