Why Special
Namchi is the capital of South Sikkim and home to two massive religious landmarks. Samdruptse Hill has a 135-foot statue of Guru Padmasambhava (the largest of its kind) visible from across the valley. Siddhesvara Dhaam (Char Dham) features replicas of India's four dhams plus an 87-foot Shiva statue. The town is quieter and less touristy than Gangtok, with excellent Kanchenjunga views. Tendong Hill (8,530 ft) nearby offers trekking. Rock Garden and the organic farms around Namchi add character.
