Bahmani dynasty capital — massive fort, Bidriware metalcraft, and Guru Nanak's sacred spring
Why Special
Bidar was the capital of the Bahmani Sultanate (1347-1518) and later the Barid Shahi dynasty. The fort is one of India's largest — triple moat, massive walls, and crumbling palaces inside. Bidriware — the distinctive silver-inlaid blackened zinc metalwork — originated here and is still practiced by artisan families. Guru Nanak Jhira Sahib is a Sikh gurudwara built around a spring Guru Nanak is believed to have created.

The stay decisions worth flagging in Bidar.
No luxury or international-chain hotels operate in Bidar as of April 2026. Every property in the dossier is independent or a small regional operator. Bidar is a genuine off-circuit heritage town—the fort, Bahmani tombs, and Bidriware workshops are the draw, not the accommodation. Plan your itinerary around the sites; sleep is secondary.
Bidar has no true experience-tier anchor property. The closest thing to a signature stay is Blackbuck Resort, which runs ₹2,000–5,000/night and earns that slot by default—not by competing with anything above it. There is no meaningful upgrade path here. If you need more comfort than Blackbuck or Mastiff Select offer, you're looking at Hyderabad (2.5 hours, NH44) as a base with a day-trip to Bidar.
Blackbuck Resort (by Jungle Lodges)
We pick this as Bidar's experience slot not because it competes with anything in a larger city, but because it's the only property here that offers something you can't replicate at a generic mid-range hotel—lake-facing cottages near Vilaspur Lake, blackbuck jeep safaris, and enough darkness at night for serious stargazing. The Jungle Lodges pedigree means the naturalist staff know the terrain. April nights in the Deccan drop enough to sit outside without suffering the daytime heat. This is the o
Mastiff Select Bidar
We recommend this for travelers whose priority is Bidar's fort and monument circuit rather than a nature stay. It's the most consistently reviewed property in the city proper—cleanliness and staff hold up across recent 2025 sources—and the pool is a practical advantage in April when daytime temperatures routinely cross 38°C. Rooms are compact; this is not a place to spend your afternoons in. It's a functional, well-run base for a 2-night heritage run.
Hotel Kasturi International
We pick this if your Bidar visit is transit-heavy—arriving by bus or train and moving out the same way. It sits close to the bus stand and railway station, has a 24-hour restaurant and bar, and runs family rooms. A September 2024 Tripadvisor reviewer called it 'perfect location in the centre,' which is the entire reason to book it. You're paying ₹600–2,000 less per night than Mastiff Select and giving up the pool; in April, that trade-off is real.
Around the Village (Agro-Rural Homestay/Farmstay)
We flag this for one specific traveler type: someone spending 3+ nights in Bidar who wants to see how the Deccan's agricultural belt actually functions, not just its medieval monuments. A 2025 Tripadvisor reviewer described it as a place where 'everyone can enjoy village life' with direct exposure to local farming. It's 1 km from Nittur B Bus Stop. Modern comforts are not the point. If you need reliable Wi-Fi and air conditioning, this is the wrong pick—book Mastiff Select and day-trip the fort
