Arambol
Goa Β· North Goa Β· 5m
Goa's last hippie beach β drum circles, sweet lake, paragliding, and zero pretension
Why Special
Arambol is where the hippies went when Anjuna got too commercial. The main beach is long and lively; walk north over the headland to reach the Sweet Lake (a freshwater lake behind the beach where people bathe in warm mud) and then the secluded Kalacha Beach. Sunset drum circles on the beach are a nightly ritual. Paragliding off the cliff is the main adventure activity. The vibe is earthy, communal, and determinedly non-commercial.

The stay decisions worth flagging in Arambol.
Arambol is Goa's remaining backpacker/long-stay beach β the Russian and European yoga/music/sustainability crowd that long-stays Nov-March. Stay scene is beach huts (basic, cheap), boutique B&Bs in the hills behind the beach, and Spazio Leisure as the nearest 3-star. No luxury options. Pick huts if you're under 35 or on a budget; Spazio if you want a hot shower.
Spazio Leisure Resort is βΉ3-5k more per night than Arambol beach huts β what you get: 3-star hotel with AC, proper pool, restaurant, clean bathrooms. Beach huts give you right-on-sand at βΉ1-2k but no AC, thin walls, and basic facilities. The delta buys you comfort for the season visitors; long-stayers pick huts anyway.
Spazio Leisure Resort
3-star hotel about 7 miles from Arambol beach β coffee shop, bar, multi-cuisine restaurant. The nearest mid-range hotel with AC and a proper pool. You'll need a scooter for the beach (10 min ride). For families or over-35s who want Arambol's scene without the hut experience.

Arambol Beach Huts / Love Temple bamboo cottages
Arambol's real accommodation β basic bamboo-and-thatch cottages on the sand, βΉ1-2k/night, seasonal (Oct-May). No booking portals for most; walk the beach, ask the shack owners. The Love Temple at the cliff end offers yoga, meditation, vegetarian food, and bamboo huts with beach views. Not for comfort β for the Arambol vibe.
