Mehtab Bagh

Built by Babur as the 11th of his Yamuna-front gardens; the Mehtab Bagh lines up perfectly axially with the Taj. Designed as moonlight-reflection garden. Today it's the premier sunset viewpoint of the Taj — better than Taj-side itself at that hour. Open until sunset.

Akbar's Tomb (Sikandra)

Built 1622-1628 by Empress Nur Jahan for her Persian father Mirza Ghiyas Beg. First Mughal tomb in all-white marble with pietra dura inlay — directly inspired the Taj Mahal two decades later. Much smaller scale, often near-empty. Across the Yamuna from central Agra, 8km.
